PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after one person was stabbed at a Walmart in Pasadena on Wednesday, according to police.

The Pasadena Police Department said it received a call at about 10:30 a.m. about a stabbing in a parking lot at the Walmart along 5200 Fairmont Parkway.

When officers arrived, they found the victim critically injured, with a stab wound to the stomach. Police said he was flown to the hospital.

Police said they have no reason to believe the victim, and the person of interest know each other.

"We have no motive at this time, so all we know is that the suspect arrived on scene, approached the male a stabbed him in the upper torso. We don't have any reason to believe that there was a previous relationship that motivated the incident," Pasadena Police Department Officer Slack said.

Investigators said the suspect immediately left the scene, but authorities said they were able to detain a person of interest following a short pursuit.

"Utilizing the flock camera system in our city, officers that were patrolling the area located a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle's description. They attempted a traffic stop at which point the suspect ensued a pursuit and the pursuit ended in the 3000 block of Denkman Street," Officer Slack said.

An investigation into the case continues, and police said it's still unclear what charges he may face.
