Company illegally dumps waste into Spring neighborhood drain, court docs show

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- Hundreds of gallons of septic waste was allegedly dumped down a drain in a Spring neighborhood.

According to court documents, a company faces a water pollution charge as a result. It allegedly happened on July 1 at 5745 Pimberton Lane.

According to court documents, the owner of 4G Septic Solutions admitted to dumping 550 gallons of septic waste. A witness told ABC13 that they saw a tanker truck with a hose running from the truck into an open manhole cover. When law enforcement arrived, a deputy saw and smelled septic waste inside. Court documents alleged the company violated the Texas Health and Safety Code and the Texas Water Code.

Mike and Marsha Call live in the neighborhood. The Calls said they had no idea this happened.

"We've got neighbors with kids, and we've got a neighbor with a newborn and small children," Marsha said. "I would hate to see any of them get sick from any of that."

By law, septic companies are supposed to dump waste in designated facilities. Blake Anderson, the owner of Strictly Septic, said the drain where this happened leads to a wastewater facility that is specifically meant for the homes connected to it. Anderson said dumping more inside could be more than it can process.

"It could back up. It could flood all of these manholes," Anderson said. "These lids could pop off. It's illegal and it puts the community at risk, public health at risk."

Anderson said there are environmental and public health concerns with something like this.

"It is exposing the entire community when it's flooding the streets, rolling over. Kids getting sick. Parents getting sick," Anderson said. "It could be, you know, devastating potentially if it came to that."

The attorney for the septic company's owner told ABC13 that they'd provide a comment after reviewing the case report.
