Man accused of killing repairman now indicted on second murder charge, records show

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A day after there were questions about additional charges for a man accused of killing a repairman, the suspect was indicted by a grand jury for a second murder, according to court records.

Jaime Garcia, 32, was initially arrested after investigators said he shot and killed Christopher Walsh on July 2. Walsh, a plumber, went to Garcia's parents' home on Cathie Drive to fix a leak. Investigators say Garcia didn't know the plumber, and they have no motive for the shooting at this time.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, as Garcia was facing the murder charge for Walsh's death, he was charged last week for a different shooting death involving 41-year-old Francisco Navarro. Navarro was found dead inside a vehicle in the 1300 block of Patch on May 26.

On Monday, records showed the charge against Garcia in Navarro's case was dismissed as it went through probable cause court. According to the HCSO, a hearing officer read the probable cause statement and found no probable cause in the case.

But Tuesday the prosecutor presented the case to a grand jury, who indicted Garcia on the murder charge in the Navarro case.

Investigators have not released information on a motive in either murder.
