Portion of Seawall Boulevard in Galveston buckles due to heat: TxDOT

GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you think it's hot outside, you are correct!

It's so hot, in fact, that Texas Department of Transportation officials say Seawall Boulevard near 77th Street buckled from the heat over the weekend.

"We've had some extreme situations over the last few days, the last few weeks, so it can change rapidly," Danny Perez, with TxDOT, explained.

Crews worked overnight, from Sunday to Monday, to patch the road.

According to TxDOT, they will be coming back in late September to put in a more permanent fix.

Galveston city officials told ABC13 they haven't received any reports of injuries or damage to vehicles.
