
CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is ongoing following a single-car crash in the Conroe area where two people were killed and four people were left critically injured early Saturday morning, according to the Conroe Police Department.
The crash happened at about 2:00 a.m. in the 2300 block of White Oak Boulevard near Park Boulevard.
Officials said officers arrived and found a white Kia Soul engulfed in flames with several people inside. CPD said several bystanders were able to rescue four people inside the vehicle before first responders arrived.
Additionally, there were two other people in the car; the 22-year-old driver and another passenger were trapped in the burning vehicle and were unable to be rescued, officials said.

The four passengers who were rescued were all rushed to the hospital, where police described three as critical but stable and the fourth as critical.
The victims, whose names will not be released per authorities, range from ages 16 to 22, officials said.
A preliminary investigation found that the car was traveling west at a high rate of speed before it left the roadway and struck a tree head-on, officials said.
Authorities said that alcohol may have been a contributing factor, but no other additional information would be released.
