1 dead, 3 hospitalized after crash on Highway 288 southbound in Pearland, police say

PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities say a crash is under investigation after it left one person dead and sent multiple people to the hospital in Pearland early on Thursday.

The Pearland Police Department said the single-vehicle crash happened on the SH 288 toll road going southbound. An ABC13 crew spotted a vehicle that had flipped over on the HOV ramp of the highway near McHard Road.

According to police, one person died and three others were hospitalized. Their conditions haven't been released.

It's unclear at this time what may have led to the crash.

The outbound HOV was closed as of 3 a.m. It's unclear when it may reopen.
