All eastbound mainlanes reopen on I-10 after Houston Avenue Bridge hit by high load, TxDOT says
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- All eastbound mainlanes have reopened on I-10 after the Houston Avenue Bridge was hit again, this time by a truck carrying a large spool, TxDOT says.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office also reported the incident, saying an 18-wheeler hit the bridge because of its high load.
Houston TranStar reports that two eastbound right lanes of I-10 were closed due to the incident. TxDOT said its crews responded to the scene.
As of 3 p.m., the scene has cleared, and all of the main eastbound lanes are back open, according to Houston TranStar.
TxDOT shared images of the incident, including the 18-wheeler's large spool hitting the bridge.
The Houston Avenue Bridge has become infamous for being struck by high loads, with the bridge having been hit well over 70 times since 2025.
The bridge clearance is 14 feet 3 inches.
