Memorial City Mall ice rink closing in July with no plans to reopen

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Memorial City Mall announced it is closing its ice skating rink for good this summer.

The mall said upcoming construction at its main entrance makes it impossible to maintain the conditions needed for the ice.

The rink will close on July 31, and the mall says there are currently no plans to reopen it.

Mall officials say any usable equipment will be donated to other ice rinks and community organizations to help support skating programs.
