Man serving time for decapitating wife dies behind bars from self-inflicted injury, TDCJ says

LOVELADY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Waller County man who was serving time for the 2023 decapitation of his wife died in January, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has confirmed.

Records show that Jared James Dicus died from a self-inflicted injury on Jan. 16 in the TDCJ's Wainwright Unit.

ABC13 previously reported that Dicus was sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his wife, Anggy Diaz.

Dicus had been in the unit since Aug. 8, 2024 and would've been eligible for parole in 2043, according to court documents.
