HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are investigating after they say a woman was hit and killed in west Houston on Friday morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened at about 6:25 a.m. at 9501 Westheimer Road.
HPD said the 73-year-old woman, who has not been identified, failed to yield the right of way and entered the roadway before she was hit by a truck.
A second vehicle reportedly also hit the woman, who died at the scene. One of the drivers remained at the scene and showed no signs of being intoxicated, police added, while the second driver did not stop to provide aid.
Police said an investigation is underway. Anyone with information about the second vehicle or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Editor's note: A spokesperson with HPD initially said a man had been hit by a vehicle. However, police later identified the victim as a woman in a press release. This article has since been corrected.
