Maintenance technician arrested, charged with online solicitation of a minor, deputies say

KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office arrested a man at the Texas Children's Hospital in Katy last week. He's now charged with the online solicitation of a minor.

The sheriff's office said 43-year-old Severo Garcia was arrested on Friday. The hospital told ABC13 that Garcia was a maintenance technician at the time of his arrest but he is no longer employed at the hospital. After our inquiries, the hospital did confirm background checks are performed on all employees.

In a statement the hospital said, "the health and safety of every child and woman is our top priority."

From court records, ABC13 is learning Garcia is accused of trying to get a minor to FaceTime him while they showered.

ABC13 did attempt to contact Garcia, but he did not answer the door. We also called his lawyer, who said he's waiting on the evidence and isn't ready to make a comment before then.

Eyewitness News did contact the guardian of the victim, who tells us over the phone they aren't ready to speak publicly about what happened.
