HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- All lanes have reopened after an oversized vehicle hit the bridge along the I-10 Katy Freeway at Houston Avenue eastbound on Wednesday.

Houston TranStar reported the incident just before noon on I-10 Katy eastbound at Houston Avenue, with the Texas Department of Transportation confirming the bridge had been hit.

According to Houston TranStar, the traffic incident has been cleared as of 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, this continues to happen. A reminder for commercial drivers to know their vehicle height and remain alert to posted clearances," Lt. Terry Garza with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said on social media.

In December, ABC13 previously reported the bridge being hit for the 72nd time in 2025. Eyewitness News reached out to TxDOT to ask how many times the bridge was hit in total in 2025 and whether Wednesday's incident is the first reported this year.

An agency spokesperson said that the monitoring system has detected 73 strikes to date, and that there have only been nine reported cases that were investigated by police.
