HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Houston-area chiropractor faces a charge of sexual assault after authorities said he allegedly performed unlicensed procedures and had several complaints of sexual assault, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Joshua Aaron Gomez, 43, was taken into custody on Wednesday on felony warrants stemming from an investigation. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the state had reportedly suspended Gomez's chiropractic license due to complaints of a sexual nature.
In addition, Gonzalez said the team identified 12 survivors with varying complaints about Gomez.
According to court documents, the arrest stems from an incident that happened in December 2023 during a woman's third visit to One Life Chiropractic on Fry Road in Katy. Instead of conducting the procedure properly, he's accused of taking advantage of her.
Investigators said the woman was sold a treatment package by Gomez to help with her misalignment from her pregnancy and delivery.
Records state the woman filed a complaint to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and that's when she was told Gomez was accused of similar incidents with other women and that he surrendered his license in 2019.
In fact, court filings show he was charged with sexual assault in McAllen back in June.
Despite the arrest, Gonzalez said it's believed there could be other victims who have not been identified.
Authorities will hold a press conference on Friday to release additional information.
