Driver killed in 2-vehicle crash in Deer Park, Harris County Sheriff's Office says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says one person died in a crash in Deer Park on Wednesday.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the two-vehicle wreck happened in the 1900 block of Independence Parkway S.

In an update, HCSO Capt. Erik Albers said that at about 6 a.m., the driver of a black sedan turned in front of a white pickup, attempting to make a U-turn on Independence Parkway, when the truck slammed into its driver's side. Albers said the driver of the black car was killed.

SkyEye flew over the scene, showing the two heavily damaged vehicles.

Albers said they believe both drivers had seatbelts on and that speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
