LIBERTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A former Liberty police officer now finds himself on the other side of the law.
Jason Grindstaff, 45, turned himself in on Friday following a grand jury indictment and Texas Rangers investigation, according to city officials.
Court documents reveal Grindstaff is now charged with official oppression, including abusing his power as an officer, and indecent assault.
Records show this stemmed from an incident in November 2025.
Documents reveal the official oppression charge comes after he allegedly sexually harassed the victim, knowing it was not welcome and doing so while "acting under color of his employment as a public servant, namely Liberty police department police officer."
Court documents also show he's charged with indecent assault after allegedly "exposing the buttocks" of the victim without their consent.
At this point, it's still unclear if the incident involved a co-worker or someone else in the community.
The City of Liberty said that once the police chief was made aware of the allegations in December, Grindstaff was placed on leave and resigned at the end of February.
The city says they cannot comment further as the investigation is still ongoing.
Records show Grindstaff is being held without bond.
