East Bernard ISD athletic director, wife killed in car accident, district officials say
EAST BERNARD, Texas (KTRK) -- East Bernard ISD officials said that their head football coach and his wife, who was a teacher in the district, were killed in a car accident on Saturday evening.
In a letter sent to the East Bernard ISD community, Superintendent Courtney Hudgins said that Jeremeny Jenkins, who was the district's athletic director and head football coach, was killed in the incident.
Jenkins' wife, Brandy Jenkins, who taught at East Bernard Junior High School, was also killed in the incident, according to the district's statement.
Eyewitness News has reached out to law enforcement to gather more information on the reported incident.
In the letter, district officials said that on-site counseling and support services will be available for students and staff.
"Jeremy and Brand were much more than their titles or the roles they held within our schools, " Hudgins stated. " They were colleagues, educators, mentors, friends, and family."
