BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Iowa Colony Police Department said that someone who shot at one of their officers is still on the loose.

Investigators said the shooting happened during a traffic stop on Meridiana Parkway in Rosharon on early Tuesday morning.

Iowa Colony PD Chief Aaron Bell said the suspect got out of the vehicle and opened fire at the officer conducting the traffic stop before running away.

The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, the Pearland Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety all helped search for the suspect, but did not find him.

However, Iowa Colony police officers said they have identified the suspect, but have not released his identity.

His arrest is pending a warrant for aggravated assault on a public servant, a first-degree felony.

They say there is no threat to the community, and no injuries were reported.
