Driver escapes injury after getting stuck under burning 18-wheeler on I-45, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The North Freeway was shut down overnight after a crash that trapped a driver under a burning 18-wheeler, according to Houston police.

The Houston Police Department said that the driver escaped just in time.

Houston Transtar cameras captured the flames just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, along the North Freeway near Crosstimbers.

Before the fire, Houston police say a driver swerved to avoid an object in the road and got stuck under the trailer.

Officers say the 18-wheeler's driver didn't know it, but another passing driver saw what was happening and got the 18-wheeler to stop.

Police said no one was hurt and added that the 18-wheeler that burned was hauling soda and water.
