Pedestrian hospitalized in multi-car crash on Gulf Freeway at Scott Street, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman trying to cross the Gulf Freeway was hospitalized after she was hit by a vehicle in a multi-car crash on Sunday, authorities said.

According to the Houston Police Department, the woman was trying to cross the freeway near Scott Street when she was struck by a vehicle. Officials said she was then rushed to the hospital.

Houston TranStar reported the crash on its website, stating that the crash happened at about 11:55 a.m. on Sunday and that five vehicles were involved.

All of the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway near Scott Street were closed due to the incident, according to Houston TranStar, with the scene clearing and the lanes reopening by 1:50 p.m. on Sunday.

Houston TranStar cameras captured images of the aftermath of the crash, showing emergency crews blocking all southbound lanes and redirecting drivers to exit at Cullen Boulevard/Lockwood-Elgin.
