No threat found at Dobie High School in Pasadena, district says

PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) -- No weapons were brandished or fired on Tuesday morning after reports of an armed person caused Dobie High School to go on lockdown, according to Pasadena ISD officials.

According to district officials, a call was made at 7:30 a.m. that a student had allegedly seen another student with a weapon on campus.

Authorities said that upon receiving the call, the school was immediately placed on lockdown, with multiple law enforcement agencies responding to the scene. Officers observed surveillance video, found the suspected student, and reported finding nothing.

Officers searched the rest of the school and found no weapons.

SkyEye was over the scene, where heavy law enforcement surrounded the school, and multiple people were outside the building.

Authorities said they tried to keep parents updated throughout the morning while the search was underway. In fact, a video shared with ABC13 by a parent at the scene showed an officer informing parents that they were reviewing the information they received.

When asked if the student who reported the incident had lied, Derek Duckett, the Pasadena ISD director of emergency management, said the campus is doing a full debrief, adding that "we take every report of a threat as credible until it's proven otherwise."
