HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Ten people were shot at a large party in southwest Houston, and one of them, a 63-year-old woman, was killed, according to the Houston Police Department.
The Houston Police Department said the shooting happened early Saturday morning on Vandalia Way near Anderson Road, just inside the Beltway.
On Saturday, Asst. Chief Yasar Bashir said what began as an argument between two or three people led to a shooting that left six people injured. By Monday, police updated the total to ten people shot.
Authorities identified Eleanor Williams, 63, as the only person killed in the shootout.
Police said out of the nine other people who were shot, seven were women and two were men.
Bashir said on Saturday that one person was detained at the scene. However, a police statement on Monday did not mention any arrests related to the shooting.
Investigators said there are several unknown suspects and asked anyone with information to contact the HPD Homicide Division.
