HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Only on 13, shocking dashcam video shows a man climbing in and out of a smashed truck window during an alleged carjacking involving a pitchfork.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Bruce Cantue.
The viewer who sent the dashcam video to ABC13 can be heard frantically calling 911 on the phone.
"The guy who's in the back of the truck bed busted out the window and is hitting the guy like he doesn't want him to stop or something. I don't know if he has a weapon," the woman can be heard telling the 911 operator.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, around 7 Monday morning, a man was driving a red Ford F-150 on the North Freeway near 610 when he saw Cantu walking through traffic with a pitchfork.
Court records say the driver slowed down to avoid Cantu, but instead, Cantu climbed into the bed of the truck, smashed out the back window with the pitchfork, and began to hit and threaten the driver.
"He's starting to throw out personal belongings, like his phone; he threw out a laptop," the 911 caller tells the operator in the dashcam video.
According to court records, Cantu used the driver's phone to call his brother and told him that someone had stolen money from him but that he had 'gotten his revenge'.
After holding the driver hostage for about 20 miles, investigators said Cantu forced the driver out of the truck in Spring, before making his way to Huntsville.
According to the charging document, Cantu abandoned the F-150 in Huntsville, armed himself with a pipe, stole a red Chevy truck, and continued driving north.
The Department of Public Safety confirmed to ABC13 on Monday that video posted to social media shows Cantu in the Chevy, intentionally ramming head-on into a trooper's vehicle, before reversing and fleeing again.
It was shortly after the trooper-involved crash, just over the line in Leon County, about 100 miles away from the original carjacking, that DPS says a Trooper shot Cantu, ending the chase. Court records say Cantu refused to identify himself, but facial recognition software connected Cantu to his criminal history in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma court records show Cantu has an extensive criminal history there, ranging from kidnapping, domestic abuse, and robbery.
Eyewitness News has continued to ask DPS for more details surrounding the shooting, but they said they are not sharing more information at this time.
Cantu was flown to the hospital, according to law enforcement. As of Tuesday, he is still there recovering.
ABC13 is still working to learn who allegedly stole money from Cantu, and what Cantu meant when he said he had 'gotten his revenge'.
Cantu faces at least two charges out of Harris County, including aggravated kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
The driver of the F-150 was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and gave a statement to law enforcement.
ABC13 continues to reach out to the Huntsville Police Department for more information about the aggravated robbery that occurred there, but they have not responded.
