HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Firefighters battled flames on the roof of Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center on Friday afternoon, the Houston Fire Department said.
Amy McCaig, an official with Houston Methodist, said a piece of equipment on the roof of the Centennial Tower caused the fire, which spread to a section of roof insulation.
Firefighters added that while the fire prompted a 2-alarm response, no evacuations were necessary at the time.
Smoke billowing into the sky was visible from miles away, and SkyEye13 was over the tower as crews put out the fire.

McCaig added that no injuries were reported and that there was no risk to employees or patients.
SkyEye13 images showed the fire was out.
