CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- A grand jury declined to take further action against a Conroe ISD police officer involved in a crash in November, according to records.
Patrick Freeland, a young father, was killed in the crash when his motorcycle slammed into the officer's patrol car.
At the time, investigators learned a Conroe ISD patrol vehicle was going northbound in the middle lane, preparing to turn west into the CISD police station parking lot, where the motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the patrol unit, police said.
Three months later, on Tuesday, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office told ABC13 that it presented the investigation to a grand jury in December, and they declined to take further action. This means that no criminal charges will be filed against the officer.
Conroe ISD said the city of Conroe's Police Department completed the crash investigation.
Eyewitness News obtained a crash report that states the officer was deemed at fault for failing to yield the right of way.
The school district also told ABC13 that the officer is still employed by Conroe ISD.
