Child declared dead after being found unresponsive in Cypress-area pool, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A young child is dead after being found unresponsive in an apartment complex's pool in the Cypress area, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said it was investigating the deadly incident at the apartment complex at 10225 Wortham Blvd on Saturday evening.

According to investigators, after the child was found unresponsive, CPR was administered at the scene and the child was rushed to the hospital. Deputies said that's where the child was pronounced dead. Investigators did not immediately say whether the child drowned.

Detectives are responding to the scene, and an investigation is underway, according to the sheriff's office.
