HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Wild video out of southwest Houston captured the moment an SUV barreled through a busy intersection and slammed into multiple vehicles.

One of the vehicles hit was a Houston Police Department cruiser. It happened in the middle of a busy Friday afternoon, according to police.

Faiz Fateh, who works nearby, said he's seen crashes at the intersection of Harwin and Hillcroft before.

But he said he's never seen anything like what unfolded that afternoon.

"This was like back-to-back hitting the car," Fateh said. "There is like a bunch of people yelling, you know, people with cameras out there. I wasn't sure if it was a car chase or if it was an accident or a random accident or if someone ran a red light."

An HPD officer could be heard over police radio traffic saying, "Couple of units to location. I just got rammed by the suspect. I have no idea what's going on."

HPD said this was a multi-vehicle crash with multiple people hurt, but they didn't say the extent of those injuries.

Video showed officers arresting someone on the scene. According to police, the suspect has been identified as Robert Lee Scott.

The 33-year-old was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a public servant.

Court records showed Scott was still in jail.

"I hope everybody is okay," Fateh said. "I hope no one was hurt."

Fateh said he was ultimately left wondering why this happened.

"I wasn't sure, what was he thinking?" Fateh said.

ABC13 reached out to Scott's attorney and is awaiting a response.

Police have also not said what they believe the reason for all of this was.
