HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 15-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly shooting the driver of an 18-wheeler in northeast Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The scene began unfolding at about 5:18 a.m. Wednesday in the 11500 block of the East Sam Houston Parkway. Gonzalez said the incident involved the driver of the big rig and two occupants inside a silver sedan.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old driver was in the sedan with her 15-year-old brother. They alleged the truck driver clipped their side mirror with the trailer and they were trying to get him to stop.
In that effort, the 15-year-old allegedly fired once toward the truck. Authorities said the teen sat on the front passenger window ledge and fired over the top of the vehicle. They said the bullet went through the truck door and hit the driver.
The driver and her teen brother were detained at the scene, and Gozalez said the teen was charged with aggravated assault.
Meanwhile, the driver of the 18-wheeler, whose name has not been released, was critically injured.
