HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 26-year-old man is in custody after an 18-year-old was found shot to death in north Harris County over the weekend, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Ben J. Gage was arrested on Tuesday after an investigation determined that he was there the night that Jaiden Jackson was shot.

According to HCSO, Jackson and Gage met at a nearby park before reportedly getting into an argument that led to gunfire. Gage fled the scene shortly after. It is unclear what the two were arguing about or what they met up for.

Officials said it happened in the 800 block of Salter Drive just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Deputies said they responded to the area and found Jackson shot several times in the driver's seat of an SUV that was still running while lodged in a ditch. EMS personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, HCSO says.

Gage was taken into custody by the Harris County Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. Officials said he was booked into the Harris County Jail and was charged with capital murder.
