'Baby Jessica' arrested and charged after domestic disturbance in Midland County, deputies say

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The woman known to the world as "Baby Jessica" was arrested after a family violence incident over the weekend, authorities said.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office said 40-year-old Jessica McClure Morales was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

No other details about her arrest were made public.

In 1987, the world met Morales when she was just 18 months old, after she fell into an eight-inch-wide well at her aunt's Midland home.

She was the focus of a dramatic drilling operation, where crews took 60-hours to rescue her.

Morales said in past interviews that she does not remember the ordeal.
