Homeowner says light pole knocked down by car left on sidewalk for weeks until Action 13 stepped in
CenterPoint removed and replaced the pole after a northeast Houston resident called ABC13.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After a northeast Houston homeowner told ABC13 that a car crash about two weeks ago left a damaged streetlight pole in his yard and blocked the sidewalk, the pole was removed and replaced.
Don Washington said it was making the little East Little York/Homestead neighborhood even darker, adding that he had contacted CenterPoint, but hadn't seen any action.
"Two or three days later, CenterPoint came out after I called them a second or third time and looked at it and took off, and then they came back as of (Monday) and said it's no hot wires; 'We'll get to it when we can,'" Washington recalled.
CenterPoint confirmed to ABC13 they first learned about the pole about a week ago.
On Tuesday, when ABC13 contacted the company, the pole was picked up in hours, with CenterPoint confirming they were working on replacing the street light as soon as possible.
By Wednesday, a new pole stood in its place.

"ABC13, yes, and I thank y'all for coming out - because we'll get some action now," Washington expressed.
Washington said he's thankful for the quick action.
"They came out and looked at it, but I didn't get any action until ABC13 news got involved; then they came within hours to remove the pole," Washington said.
