HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A sinkhole in northwest Harris County caused traffic delays and sent two people to the hospital, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The hole opened up in the 13100 block of Veterans Memorial Drive on Tuesday during the evening commute, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

SkyEye was over the scene, capturing images of Harris County crews responding to the wide sinkhole.

SkyEye was overhead as the hole caused a road to back up, and images showed water flowing beneath the street.

Gonzalez said the car hit the sinkhole and was stuck in there. He added that a man and a woman were injured and were rushed to the hospital, but are expected to be OK.

The Champions Fire Department assisted with the incident, deputies said.

HCSO said the intersection was shut down, but did not immediately provide a timeline for repairs.
