SEABROOK, Texas (KTRK) -- Fire officials say a woman was rescued from a sinking vehicle in Seabrook Friday night.
The Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department says the 19-year-old woman accidentally drove into Clear Creek Channel in the Shipyard Marina.
Chief Nathan Douglas said the vehicle was submerged and barely sticking out of the water.
According to the chief, Seabrook Shipyard residents who live on their boats jumped in to try to help, adding that he gives the biggest credit to an assistant chief with the department.
"(He) immediately went into action, put on his life-saving equipment, mainly a life vest and throw ropes, and was able to get into the water and save her," Douglas said. "It was an incredible rescue and truly saved her life."
That chief said he's proud of everyone who made that happen - including their dispatch center.
