HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department and Crime Stoppers are searching for the person who is responsible for shooting and killing 19-year-old Mason Bourda at a car meet-up in north Houston.

According to police, several people were in the old Greenspoint Mall parking lot in the 200 block of Greens Road around 1 a.m. earlier this month.

HPD said the Bourda went to the unauthorized meet-up to see a friend.

At one point, police said shots rang out, causing everyone to run, and the teen was hit several times. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, HPD said.

It remains unclear what led up to the shooting or if there were any other injuries reported. HPD's Lt. J.P. Horelica said there is a possibility that the cars that were there were also hit with bullets, and an investigator later confirmed a truck had at least five or six bullet holes in it.

HPD said there are no suspect descriptions available at this time, but Bourda's family is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and identification. Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), submitted online on the Crime Stoppers website, or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app.
