17-year-old arrested, charged with murder in deadly shooting at apartment in southwest Houston: HPD

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was arrested and charged with murder for a fatal apartment shooting last week in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

In a statement, Houston city officials said 17-year-old LeBron Augustus is charged with murder for allegedly shooting a man at an apartment complex on Brooklet Drive on the night of Dec. 19.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old John Pascuasa-Menendez, city officials said.

According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez, HPD patrol officers were responding to a shooting call at the apartment complex when they found Pascuasa-Menendez in an alleyway. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound, according to the detectives.

Houston Fire Department paramedics took Pascuasa-Menendez to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, city officials said.

Investigators identified Augustus as the suspect in the shooting, according to authorities. He was taken into custody and later charged with murder in the 230th Criminal District Court.
