HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Three deputies were hospitalized Thursday evening following a chase in west Harris County, according to police. The suspect involved was also taken to the hospital.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputies said that the high-speed chase started at 4:04 p.m. when officials pulled over a box truck near the Katy Freeway at Brittmoore Road.

Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department said the suspect, who has not been identified, had at least two felony warrants. Crowson said the deputy was going to place the driver under arrest, but the driver took off, sparking the chase.

The pursuit ended at the Georgetown townhome community on 13192 Trail Hollow. Police said the driver hit a dead end at the complex and began backing up into the deputies' vehicles. In fear for their safety, the deputies shot at the box truck. The driver then rammed into the carport and tried running off on foot.

Houston Police Department K9s were also deployed in the incident. The suspect was detained shortly after hiding in a resident's apartment.

Precinct 5 deputies said that there was one passenger in the box truck, who had to be extracted and was taken to a hospital. Authorities added that the suspect was hospitalized with minor self-inflicted injuries, but is expected to be OK.

Three deputies were hospitalized with minor cuts and scrapes.
