
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people are dead and one is on the run following a home invasion in west Houston on Thursday, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said officers responded to a home invasion at 10 a.m. at the Gael Apartments on the 3900 block of Essex Lane.
Police say a man was inside his apartment when three men arrived and forced entry through the front door with a large piece of concrete. According to law enforcement, the man inside the apartment was able to get a firearm and shot two of the three suspects.
Crowson said that one suspect, who was shot several times, was pronounced dead at the scene, while another, who was shot, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The third suspect fled in a dark-colored SUV vehicle, police said.
Police said that they believed that this incident was a targeted attack.
According to HPD, there was a large amount of narcotics and guns found inside the apartment.
Police said that the man inside the apartment, who shot the two intruders, wasn't hurt.
