HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Meet the Houston Zoo's newest hatchling!
The Victoria Crowned pigeon hatched on January 24. The gender of the party-hatted bird is still unknown. Its brother was hatched back on December 21 of last year.
According to zoo officials, the brother was hatched by keepers after the parents abandoned the egg. He's been raised by the zoo's expert bird keepers.
The extinction-vulnerable Victoria crowned pigeons are ground dwellers and native to New Guinea.
