'Operation Christmas Child' calls for donations for needy children

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Can you imagine a better way to start the holidays than sending a box full of treasures to a child who has never received a present?

That's the goal of "Operation Christmas Child," and the organization needs your help.

This week, the group wants to collect shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for some 10 million needy children overseas.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham.
