McALLEN, TX -- A South Texas woman has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison for trying to lure a man into having sex with one of her young female relatives.

Lydia Vasquez of Edcouch was sentenced Thursday in McAllen in an undercover federal case linked to Michigan.

Vasquez in December pleaded guilty to enticing an individual to travel in interstate commerce in order to engage in illicit sexual activity.

Prosecutors say Vasquez in July 2014 began communicating with someone she thought was a 45-year-old man from Michigan. The 32-year-old Vasquez communicated via online messaging and phone about a girl she said needed help exploring sex.

Vasquez was arrested last August when she went to McAllen-Miller International Airport to meet a man that she thought was traveling from Detroit.
