HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are searching for a person who shot a man in a pickup truck Tuesday morning on the Southwest Freeway in an apparent road rage incident.

Authorities found the truck in the 300 block of US-59 outbound around 9am. The victim, Jerry Mutto, spoke exclusively with Eyewitness News from his hospital bed.

"He unloaded the whole gun on my truck and he shot one of my tires out too. One went through the door and one through the side window and that's the one that got me in the cheek," he said.

Mutto says the bullet is still in his face. A surgery is scheduled for Wednesday to remove the fragments.

According to Mutto, the incident began with the gunman trying to merge in front of his truck. Mutto says the other driver did not make it in time and a few miles down the road the man was waiting on the side of the road for him to pass.

He says that's when the shooting started.

"I started weaving and bobbing because I didn't want to get shot in the head again," Mutto said.

Police are searching for the suspected gunman last seen in a silver BMW or Lexus sedan.
