HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex in southwest Houston Tuesday afternoon.
There were conflicting reports of a child who was rescued. HFD officials now say another resident helped a child escape before firefighters arrived on the scene. One firefighter is said to have suffered a leg injury.
The fire broke out at the Mar Del Sol Apartments on Woodfair at about 3:30pm. The entire building has been affected by the fire. According to apartment management, of the 16 units in that building only eight were occupied. Most of the families weren't home at the time of the blaze. The Red Cross has been mobilized to assist with displaced occupants.
