Sunken barge slows ship channel traffic
A sunken barge is causing delays in the Houston Ship Channel.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Traffic along the Houston Ship Channel is currently slowed due to barge and tug boat both taking on water.

The US Coast Guard responded to the sinking vessels near Vince Bayou around 5:00am this morning when both ships began taking on water.

The Coast Guard then closed the channel to large ship traffic, but there is no impact at this time as there were no large cargo ships scheduled to enter or exit the area. Small barge traffic is still ongoing via tug boats.

The Coast Guard says there are no injuries.
