Student removed from C.E. King High after bringing gun to school
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A student at C.E. King High School was removed from campus Wednesday after bringing a gun to school, according to the Sheldon Independent School District.
Students said they saw a boy showing off his gun around school. One student reported him to school administration and police took action, according to the district.
A letter to parents from Sheldon ISD reads, in part, "Preliminary reports indicate the student did not intend to use the weapon at the school. However, the student's alleged purpose for carrying the firearm to the campus was related to a perceived threat in the student's neighborhood."
Students at the school said they wish their teachers would have told them earlier in the day about the threat.
"We could get hurt because of that," Kaitelynne Bell said, "Just very unsafe."
Dasmon Vollier said she is nervous sending her children to school.
"My children, I would hope, would be safe at school, and now with the gun violence escalated in the United States, it's scary because I'd hate for one of mine to be in the crossfire of any of that kind of stuff," Vollier said.
According to Sheldon ISD, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken against the student who brought the gun. No one was injured.
