ALVIN, TX (KTRK) -- Detectives are investigating after someone discovered skeletal remains in a heavily wooded area of Alvin.

The scene is unfolding near Galveston Road and Jane Street.

A person walking along the train tracks around 5pm Friday saw the skull and bones in the heavily wooded area and called police.

Detectives spent the evening taking photos and trying to locate all the remains. An Alvin police captain says they don't know who this is or how this person died.

Crime scene workers had to put up white suites to protect themselves from poison ivy or other elements.

Neighbors had no idea what was going on. They say homeless people used to live in the wooded area.

"The skull is down below ... in the bottom of the ditch, but the bulk of the rest of the remains are just scattered or spread out or up in the wooded area," Cpt. Todd Arendell said.
