Reward up to $20K in Harris Co. deputy 'ambush' shooting case
An increased reward of $20,000 was announced today in the attempted capital murder case of Harris County Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Alden Clopton.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An increased reward of $20,000 was announced Tuesday in the attempted capital murder case of Harris County Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Alden Clopton.

In a press conference, Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division released two versions of a video and asked for help in finding a suspect. The reward was increased in April to $10,000.

Authorities said Deputy Constable Clopton was wearing a protective vest when he was shot several times from behind on April 13 around 11:15pm. It happened next to a convenience store on the 3100 block of Alabama.

Newly released video documents the moments where Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Alden Clopton is shot.

The newly released video shows a shadowy figure running North along the bike trail across the street from the shooting just seconds after Clopton was shot.

"The suspect is running to the right of the bike trail, the bike trail is a nice bike trail, it's well maintained, and he or she purposely tried to run to the right of it," said Det. Mark Condon of the Houston Police Department Homicide Division.

The video was captured from the home where Ovi McReynolds live.

"I think we're fortunate to have those cameras there, to give us an idea of what the guy kind of looked like," said McReynolds, who remembers hearing gunshots the night of the shooting. "We got him going that way. He was really close to my house, so it was frightening also."

Deputy Clopton is the second local law enforcement officer in recent months to be shot in an 'ambush' style attack. Back in August, Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Darren Goforth was fatally shot in an ambush at a northwest Harris County gas station.
