HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An innocent driver was killed and three people are in custody following a police chase and crash in northwest Harris County Thursday.
The victim was 21-year-old Yolanda Juarez. Her sister tells us she was studying to be a veterinarian.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the three suspects in a stolen vehicle were being sought by Houston police. The vehicle had reportedly been used in an aggravated robbery.
Harris County deputies spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Antoine and Fallbrook and tried to pull the suspects over, but they didn't stop.
The chase went on for about a mile. That's when the suspects ran a red light and violently hit Juarez's vehicle, which was going in the opposite direction.
"I just froze and all the parts started flying out over my truck right there and that's when the truck went airborne and flipped over on the side," said a woman who witnessed the wreck, but didn't want to be identified.
She described an impact so big and so violent that it sent the victim's car a block away, virtually turning it into pieces.
The stolen truck flipped onto its side. All three suspects -- two males and a female -- were transported to the hospital.
The driver, Lanice Tobias, is charged with murder.
