Outside fight carried over into school brawl

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people are being detained after a fight at a school campus south of downtown.

The disturbance took place at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church on N MacGregor and Riverside Tuesday morning. Police say two students started fighting outside the building and that fight turned into a larger brawl that ended up inside the building.

One student was arrested for an outstanding warrant. A second was detained. Two other students had to go to hospitals to be checked out. Police say things could have been much worse.

"It's a blessing there weren't any weapons," said Sgt. Daryl Brown with the Houston Police Department. "We were just dealing with hand to hand combat with these kids. So, that was a blessing."
