HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two fires broke out less than a mile apart in northeast Houston. So far, authorities are saying the fires do not appear to be related.
A neighbor spotted a house fire on Vintage Street near Linn. The homeowner, who lives alone, was not there when the fire started around 4am this morning. The neighbor spotted smoke and called 911. Authorities say the home was 50 percent destroyed and the fire appeared to have started in the bathroom.
The other home caught fire on Collingsworth and Love. A mother and her teenage son escaped the home around 5:30am. No one was injured.
Both fires are under investigation.
