HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is in custody, and a couple more are injured after a wild scene ended with a fiery crash in north Houston.
A cab driver called police to report a driver in a Silverado, who was possibly armed, was pursuing the taxi. It's not known why the suspect was following the cab.
An officer who was notified of the situation spotted the SUV and was about to pursue, when the driver exited the freeway. Officers believe the suspect knew HPD was following and attempted to flee. The Silverado then struck one vehicle, which flipped and landed on its side. That vehicle's bumper came off and flew across the street, striking another two vehicles waiting at a traffic light.
Officers on the scene checked a nearby sewer grate, thinking the suspect may have tossed evidence down there.
A total of three people were taken to a hospital, one of which is the suspect who is considered to be in custody. They are all minor injuries. One of the vehicles had two girls as passengers, with one in an infant car seat.
