TEXAS CITY, TX (KTRK) -- People in Texas City are being allowed back in their homes after an hours-long standoff in Texas City.
The standoff began Sunday afternoon when a man was threatening suicide with a gun. Police negotiated with the man throughout the day, but left residents in the dark while the situation was resolved.
"The police started coming and the mom was crying and I asked if there was something I could do, and she said her son is inside," said resident Gayle Sellers. "He's bipolar and threatening to kill himself because he hadn't been taking his medicine."
Police were able to get to him safely, police said.
